Today I Made: Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Today I made Iced Pumpkin Cookies! In my family we call these “Pumpin Tooties,” an homage to my mispronunciation of the name when I was little. I love making these at the beginning of fall when the leaves are starting to change color, and the weather gets a bit colder and windy.

The pumpkin cookies are warmly favored with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and vanilla and have a thin layer of icing for a little added sweetness. These are a great alternative to pumpkin bread because the texture of the cookies is quite cake-like and they have a tall rise.
